Ellen has one of those stories that just makes you wonder about people. She and her four puppies were dumped by their owner when the puppies were just four weeks old at rural animal control. As an owner surrender, their time was short to find a rescue, but as luck would have it, we turned up just in the nick of time. Two weeks later, the owner discovered we had her, and asked us to just give mom back. We sternly declined as we know Ellen deserves so much more in life than the chance her owner gave her.

Now done with nursing, Ellen is enjoying her time as a single gal. She has become great friends with Oakley, taking turns doing a doggy 500 around our play yard, stealing tennis balls from one another and just having the time of their lives.

Ellen would do best in a home with another canine playmate and a fenced-in yard to run her energy. She is still learning doggy manners so small children may not be best for her, but a running buddy would be stellar!

Heartworm Information:
Ellen is Heartworm positive. Ellen will have received a two month pre-treatment while with CPR. Adopters should discuss heartworm protocols with their veterinarian to determine treatment. Read more about the methods of treatment here.

All Coastal Pet Rescue pets are current on shots, microchipped* and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters are responsible for any shots that may be due after adoption (particularly for kittens and puppies that must have three rounds of shots to be protected).

CPR has implanted a microchip as part of the adoption process and the chip is included in the adoption fee. However, some chip companies require a registration fee varying from $9.99 to $19.99. The registration fees are the responsibility of the adopter and are NOT included in the CPR adoption fee. Adopters may add this cost to their adoption fee to have CPR register the chip on their behalf.

Adoption Fees:
Kittens: $60, Cats (1 year plus): $50, Puppies: $250, Adult Canines (1 to 6 years): $200, Seniors (7 years plus): $100 (unless otherwise specified). Adoption fees are not a tax-deductible donation as allowed by IRS regulations. Adoption fees help to offset the cost of the pet's care incurred by Coastal Pet Rescue, which are generally 2 to 3 times the adoption fee amount.

30 Days Pet Insurance:
As a Petfinder member, all adopters are entitled to a free 30 day insurance policy through PetFirst. Coastal Pet Rescue is not responsible for this policy. Adopters must call PetFirst’s toll-free number 855-710-7387 to activate the coverage. If adopters fail to call, the policy will not be activated.
