Heartworm Positive

Kaleb was one of our Polar Express freedom rides just in time for Christmas. He was the longest resident at Chatham County Animal Services, having been there since September. He's very happy to be out, getting daily walks and play time in our play yards. He is still a puppy and looking for a family with lots of love and willing to help him learn to be a good canine citizen.

Foster Update 1/9/18
This is Kaleb. He is a very playful dog that loves the company of other canines! He's a giant cuddlebug that would lay in your lap for hours if you let him. He's a perfect gentleman in a crate and loves to ride in the car. Kaleb is always proud of whatever toy or bone he has in his mouth and doesn't hesitate to hop over to you to show you what he's got. He is a very low maintenance dog that loves to play outside and longs to be in a loving home filled with plenty of attention and blankets.

Heartworm Information:
Kaleb is Heartworm positive. Kaleb will have received a two month pre-treatment while with CPR. Adopters should discuss heartworm protocols with their veterinarian to determine treatment. Read more about the methods of treatment here.

All Coastal Pet Rescue pets are current on shots, microchipped* and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters are responsible for any shots that may be due after adoption (particularly for kittens and puppies that must have three rounds of shots to be protected).

CPR has implanted a microchip as part of the adoption process and the chip is included in the adoption fee. Some pets come to us already microchipped by other companies. However, some chip companies require a registration fee varying from $9.99 to $19.99. The registration fees are the responsibility of the adopter and are NOT included in the CPR adoption fee. Adopters may add this cost to their adoption fee to have CPR register the chip on their behalf (for AKC Reunite chips only).

Adoption Fees:
Kittens: $60, Cats (1 year plus): $50, Puppies: $250, Adult Canines (1 to 6 years): $200, Seniors (7 years plus): $100 (unless otherwise specified). Adoption fees are not a tax-deductible donation as allowed by IRS regulations. Adoption fees help to offset the cost of the pet's care incurred by Coastal Pet Rescue, which are generally 2 to 3 times the adoption fee amount.

30 Days Pet Insurance:
As a Petfinder member, all adopters are entitled to a free 30 day insurance policy through PetFirst. Coastal Pet Rescue is not responsible for this policy. Adopters must call PetFirst’s toll-free number 855-710-7387 to activate the coverage. If adopters fail to call, the policy will not be activated.
