Getting Started

It took a little bit to figure out where to start. I checked the LFL’s website, and discovered that from $150 to $1M (yes, there is one for sale for $1M) I could buy a library. But, that’s not really in my budget. So I took to Pinterest. I discovered some great ideas, including using a vintage bread warmer. Yes, a bread warmer. What better place to search than eBay, where there are plenty to find.

I managed to win this fabulous one that even has stained glass with “READ” in it (I’ll be removing the “B”).

While I waited for my auction to close, I went ahead and registered to make my LFL official, so in a few weeks, my LFL will have its own charter.

Because it wouldn’t be enough for me to just have a little library, I wanted accessories. I went searching online, through etsy and eBay as well as the steward’s section of the LFL website. I settled on a few, just to get me started:

1. Official book stamp and guestbook from the LFL website. Of course, I spent the little extra and got a customizable stamp for our books to link back to this website, with the hope we’ll be able to hear from time to time where they ended up. Click here to buy yours.

2. Bookmarks. As I scrolled through eBay, the most perfect bookmarks showed up. Of course, I had to snag them (they come as a set of 24). Thinking about putting little quotes on the back and including our stamp. We’ll see what they look like when they arrive.

Now the hardest part… waiting for it to all arrive, so I can get started and see just how much more work I’ve created for myself as I finish my last term of grad school.
