Male Shepherd Mix 1.5 years old Marty is an 18 month old loving boy. His owners moved in early November, leaving him behind. He apparently has been bouncing around the neighborhood since. Marty can easily clear a 4 ft fence, probably even a 5 ft. He is staying in the yard with 6 ft privacy fence, and other dogs. He seems to enjoy other dogs, He is good with cats that get along with dogs, he does like to chase and play with them. I would say older children, just because he is a stronger boy. He will chase stray cats in the yard, so livestock is probably a no. He is house trained, kennel trained, rides like a dream in a car, and vets said super easy to work with. Knows sit, stay, shake (right & left paw). Could use some leash training. No food aggression and tug of war is his game of choice. He is a super cuddle buddy, and would do best with a dog friend.

Female Domestic Short Hair/Tabby 1-2 years old Stormie is a beautiful, sweet-natured small gray/black tabby, around 1 1/2 - 2 years old who was dumped with her two 6-7 month old kittens at a feeding site at a local feral colony after one of our recent storms - hence the name. They walked right up to one of the caretakers and it was immediately obvious that they had been indoor pets. She and her kittens (Angel and Rowdy) are all completely tame, playful, affectionate, and almost never stop purring. Stormie's foster mom says that Stormie loves to explore the house, carry her toys around, lie on the bed next to the foster mom, and occasionally zoom around like a crazy cat. She isn't a lap cat yet, but she loves being near people and may become a lap kitty in time. She also enjoys alone time and rarely meows. She would likely get along well with a fairly laid-back cat. We don't know how she would do with a dog or children, but with her calm personality, she might adjust well. Stormie is a wonderful, loving kitty who is just waiting for her forever home. In foster, but the foster would be happy to set up a day and time for you come to their house to meet the kittens, or will set up a day and time to meet you at our rescue facility, Camp Pawsawhile.

Bella 2 has just arrived to Coastal Pet Rescue!

Female Shepherd Mix 7 years old old Are you looking for a Loyal Companion? Do you wake up every day ready to play ball? Do you love yummy treats? So does Bella!
Bella is 7 years old, fully vaccinated, and spayed. She is full of life and energy. She is highly intelligent and knows basic commands. There is no limit to what she can learn with proper training. She is house broken, crate trained and learns new routines quickly. She is still perfecting her leash manners but is eager to please. Bella is very well behaved (most of the time). She is not a counter surfer, she’s not a chewer, destroyer or a digger. It’s super easy to give her medicine - just throw it in her bowl with her food or put it in a treat. She doesn’t drool excessively or beg for human food. She also does not jump up onto the furniture.

Background: Bella has spent her life as the devoted companion to an older woman who recently passed away. She provided love, company and entertainment. Her little world has been turned upside down and she is ready to find her new, forever home.
Since Bella has lived a somewhat sheltered life, she can be anxious at times - especially when her routine is disrupted. She will need a confident owner who can provide stability and understanding. She thrives with a strong leader who can help her feel secure.
Bella would like a fenced in yard with plenty of room to run and of course play fetch! SHE LIVES TO PLAY BALL! Ball launcher is definitely required. She is, however not good with other dogs, kids or cats.

If you think Bella might be the Good Girl you have been searching for, please submit your application.

Male Shepherd Mix 2.5 years old Dior is a loveable 2 1/2 year old German shepherd/husky mix. His foster during the storm evacuation said he was an angel! (The following comments were written by his foster)

He would do well with someone who works from home as he has separation anxiety, but he can be worked with to ease this over time. He is super smart and trainable. He knows some commands and is eager to please.

He could make a FANTASTIC service dog as he is very intuitive and observant. If I were to even change the way I was breathing around him he would alert to me. He is loyal and loving.

He needs someone who is familiar with his breed(s) as well who can work with him. He is a master level escape artist BUT he is not going to escape randomly- he only wants to escape IF you are not there with him- he is just trying to get to you. I have baby gates all around my house and even though he could easily have jumped them he never did- he understood they were a boundary. So as long as he knew I was there in the house he is respectful of boundaries.

He gets along with other dogs. He did fine around my cats- he wanted to play but I told him “no” and he listens. He is very responsive to tone and body language.

I love him so much and I hope someone else will fall in love with him, too! He deserves so much in this life! Whoever adopts him will have a much richer life because of him.

Pepper required some dental work when he first came to rescue, but that has resolved and he is now better and has gained to a healthier weight. Pepper is both cat and dog tolerant, housebroken and walks well on a leash. Consistent with his breed(s), Pepper has a little nervous tremor, but that resolves as he becomes more comfortable If you are looking for a senior companion, Pepper could be the guy for you!

Female DSH 5 year old Cadbury is a little quiet and shy at first, and takes her time to warm up to you. But once she does, she doesn't hold back and is really affectionate. She loves a good scratch behind her ears and will let you pick her up and hold her.
Behind her shyness is a sweet a ball of energy looking for someone to throw cat toys for her. She loves meal time and has the sweetest little meow. She even rides well in the car in her cat carrier. Just a few sweet mews, then she settles right down.
Cadbury gets along with the other cats in her room and would probably do well with another friendly feline in her new home.

Female Pointer Mix 1-2 years old Poppy is on the small side of a medium build and weighs approx 30 lbs with a beautiful soft coat. Poppy was found abandoned at a gas station and was transferred to our rescue due to her imminent delivery. Poppy delivered puppies on Jun 27th. Poppy is still a young dog and has many puppy-like behaviors, good and bad. Poppy is house broken and walks well on a leash and harness with a person who will correct her reactive behavior (barking and lunging at other animals and vehicles). To be her best self, she also needs an outlet to burn off energy, A secure, fenced yard will be required for any potential adopters (a supply of squirrels to chase is desirable). With a yard where she can run freely, Poppy is a well-mannered affectionate girl in the house. She tolerates other small dogs, but can be reactive to larger dogs and those she does not know/like. She has hunting breeds, so cats are probably not a good option.

Poppy is a particularly affectionate with one person and a small set of friends - her owners need to be the alpha dogs or she will be! Although she has been very patient with children one on one, Poppy has been very reactive to children's energy and will be best suited to a single person or household with adults.

Female Calico/Tabby Mix 1-2 Years old Sprite has spent her intro to rescue pregnant and needing a safe spot to have her 4 beautiful babies. She got into foster quickly and was very trusting of them from day one. She was very affectionate to anyone who showed her love and not too distracted by all her kittens. She was protective of her babies, when they were out of sight, she would do a little meow grown which clearly was her calling for them and she would do a head count. She kept up with their every need for nearly 10 weeks! And she never stopped being a devoted mommy. She does not like to be held and she is not a cuddler but she loves to be near you and in the middle of all the action. She does not like closed doors - she wants to know where we are and will come sleep with us at night. She loves her treats and will con everyone in the house that she hasn’t had any today (she has). She’s a wonderful kitty!
Sprite is on her way to finding a family of her own who loves a kitty that will talk to them, follow them. Rub against them and accept all the affection they can give!

If you are looking for a young, beautiful, affectionate cat who has already proven her loyal ability, she’s the one. Don’t wait. Apply today. She’s been waiting for the perfect home.

Leia has just arrived to Coastal Pet Rescue!

Female Hound Mix 2 Years old If Play Hard / Cuddle Hard were a dog motto, then Leia could be the poster child.
This girl is a big bundle of love and joy! Whether it is adults, children, or even cats, she is always overflowing with an abundance of love and happiness to share with everyone!
Leia is just a happy girl who loves everyone and is very active and energetic. She gets very excited when she gets a chance to play with other dogs. She tends to be a little resource protective of toys and plays pretty assertively with other dogs. A single dog home is probably her best bet.
Her favorite thing to do is run fast and play fetch, and there’s no tennis ball she won’t eventually get to. She is very athletic and can jump very high; her playfulness is quite appealing, and a privacy fence is a must. This active girl would be a great forever friend to a family with older children (she's a little too rough and tumble for small children) or a person who would like to have her as a jogging partner.
Leia craves love and attention, enjoys snuggling and adores getting her belly rubbed. She loves treats, especially deer antlers and bones! Anything she can chew on makes her a happy puppy! She is house-trained and crate-trained but would much rather sleep with you.
Because she wants to play, she sometimes takes more interest in cats than they prefer, but she’s learning (thanks to a spray bottle), to leave them alone when she becomes overbearing for them.
Leia has lots of puppy energy, craves interaction and will need someone who can spend a good amount of time with her, so if you’re looking for a life-time companion and BFF, don’t wait to submit an application to meet her. It is suggested that Leia would thrive in a home where she is the only canine.

Dobby has just arrived to Coastal Pet Rescue!

Male Dachshund Mix 11 Years old According to his foster, Dobby is the perfect little gentleman.
He is potty trained and good going in the kennel at night. At first, he didn't bark - in fact, he didn't bark for the entire first week in his foster home. Now that he is more confident and comfortable knowing he is safe, he barks for attention and wags his tail when barking. He's quite the happy little fellow and friendly too! He gets along with the other dogs (of all sizes) in his foster home, and hasn't met a person he doesn't like.
He is pretty food motivated - so don't leave anything unattended for too long unless you're willing to share. He especially loves some homemade doggy ice cream. Don't let this little senior guy fool you - he may have some cataract issues, but he's quick! Dobby doesn't need a five second rule. He's still energetic too and likes to run around the back yard. Even more though, he likes to snuggle with you on the couch, and is looking for a forever home where he'll always have a lap to call his own.
Submit an application to meet him before someone else swoops this sweet senior up for their own.

Sam has just arrived to Coastal Pet Rescue!

Male Beagle Mix 8 Years old Sam is a really special senior who is going to need a really special someone who can give him the love and care he needs. Sam has a seizure disorder. While it is managed with medication and daily exercise, he is still prone to seizures when he gets really happy and/or excited. His foster tries to make sure he gets as much exercise as possible and walks him about 2 – 3 miles a day to keep his energy level on the lower side.
We hope there is someone who will understand and embrace his medical concerns because Sam is a wonderful dog. He might be around 8-years old, but he has lots of love to give! He keeps himself busy throughout the day playing with his toys, napping, and keeping you company. He’s great on walks, does well on car rides, is crate trained, knows “sit” and does well with kids and other chill dogs. (High-energy kids and dogs might be too much for him and cause him to get too excited which can trigger a seizure).
Sam is a gentle soul who would be a great companion and is sure to melt your heart and make you laugh with his silly antics and playful spirit.
We know there must be someone out there just as special as Sam, so his adoption fee will be waived to ensure he finds a great home filled with love and compassion where he will be well cared for and live a spoiled-rotten comfortable life.

Gracie has just arrived to Coastal Pet Rescue!

Female Domestic Short Hair 8 Months old Gracie is going to need some grace as she adjusts to life in a new home.
She continues to learn that people are good but still takes her time to get to know someone before trusting them.
Because she can still be skittish, she’s not a fan of being picked up, and pets are strictly on her terms. Once she trusts you, and you’re in her good graces, she can be incredibly sweet; rubbing against your legs and asking for rubs and chin tickles. (Pro Tip: Feeding time is usually a good time to work on rapport with her.)
She can also be quite playful and really has fun with feather wands and shoelaces. Gracie would do well in a home with another chill cat who isn't as skittish with people so Gracie can continue to learn that people can be good.
If you’re ready to give this sweet girl the patient, loving home she deserves, don’t wait to submit an application to meet her.
