SUMMARY:New Volunteer Orientation
DESCRIPTION:Want to get involved in changing the lives of homeless pets like our cover models?\nCome join us for our next in person volunteer orientation. You’ll get a tour of our shelter\, “Camp Pawsawhile\,” an overview of how we provide care\, and how you can make a difference for our pets. \n*Note: Those 17 and under must have a parent/guardian attend orientation with them. \nThere are so many different ways you can help: \nLove animals but aren’t ready to commit to having one of your very own?\nFostering is a great way to love and nurture them until a family comes along. \nCan’t commit to set hours? We get it!\nVolunteer when you can at our Camp Pawsawhile facility. We have cats and dogs who would love to see you whenever you can make it. Even if it’s just for an hour to take them for a walk\, or to spend some time with them on the catio. \nLove getting out and meeting people?\nPick up an adoptable pet and bring them to an event. \nGood with a camera?\nCome and take pictures of our pets – we can always use good pictures for social media\, our website\, and marketing materials. \nA bit OCD?\nHelp us with some organizing/cleaning at our facility. \nHandy with tools? We might have something that needs to be fixed or updated.\nIf you have a skill that you think could help us in some way\, come learn more about how you can help save a life. \nSome Quick FAQ’s: \nWe run shifts twice a day – morning and evening – seven days a week. \nWe have different areas where you can help: Cottage (Small Dogs)\, Kennels (Big Dogs)\, and Cattery (Felines of all ages\, shapes and sizes) \nShifts normally take about two hours\, but go faster as you learn where everything is and have others to help. \nDon’t have two hours to dedicate? \nThat’s OK\, we’ll take all the help we can get! More people means less work for everyone and more time with the pets. \nWe welcome all youth and families to volunteer. \nYouth under high school age may volunteer with a parent. High schoolers may volunteer on site after attending an orientation with a parent. \n*Note: Those 17 and under must have a parent/guardian attend orientation with them.\nCome and help when you can. \nWhile we do not have a minimum set number of shifts you must commit to\, we do request that you sign up for your first shift at your orientation. \nYou will sign up as a shadow for your first three shifts so that you will work alongside another volunteer or staff member to learn the ropes until you are comfortable enough to do it without a mentor. \nAfter that\, you tell us what works for you. We have some volunteers that come every day\, while others can only commit to once a week. We’re grateful to have however much of your time you can give us. \nCamp volunteer duties include providing fresh food and water for pets\, scooping litter boxes\, picking up after dogs\, washing runs\, disinfecting litter boxes and food and water dishes\, socializing (playing with) cats\, and walking dogs. \nAll volunteers are required to wear closed-toe shoes and should wear clothes that can get dirty (because they will – many volunteers prefer rain boots for working in the kennels). \n  \nSave time by completing your volunteer application and waivers in advance: \n\nVolunteer Application (which will also create your account on Volgistics\, for youth and adults) Download the Vicnet app from google play or apple store to login and sign up for shifts.\nVolunteer Waiver (for adults and youth)\nCPR Teens Code of Conduct (under 18 only)
