Coastal Pet Rescue has limited employment opportunities as we rely on volunteers for the bulk of our animal care. However, we do time to time hire for animal care technicians at the shelter.
Animal Care Technician
Pay: $11.00 – $12.00 per hour (with reviews every six months for potential increases)
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Technician to join our team. This role is essential in providing high-quality care for animals in our facility. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare and possess the skills necessary to handle various species, ensuring their health and well-being. As an Animal Technician, you will work closely with both animals and shelter volunteers, making your role vital in fostering positive relationships and promoting excellent pet care.
Responsibilities
- Feed, medicate, exercise, and clean runs of all canine residents.
- Feed, medicate, socialize, and clean rooms and cages of all feline residents.
- Sweep and mop floors of each building.
- Scoop poop out of each play yard.
- Assist in laundry daily (putting on to wash, getting into dryer, folding and putting away).
- Wash all dirty dishes and return clean, dry ones to their proper locations.
- Make sure that all supplies are kept stocked in each unit (pet food, puppy pads, cat litter, cleaning items, etc.) and notifying Director of any supplies that need to be replenished.
- All trash taken out to the dumpster.
- Set up kennels and cages for incoming animals.
- Assist new volunteers as they work alongside you.
Requirements
- Experience in dog AND cat handling outside of having a pet in your home.
- Familiarity with veterinary assistant duties is a plus.
- Ability to work well in a team environment while also being self-motivated.
- Must be physically capable of lifting and restraining animals as necessary.
- Lifting of 50 pounds minimum (supplies and animals)
- Over 18 AND out of high school
Shifts
- Daily shifts are 9 am to 1 pm and 4:30 to 6:30 pm. Your schedule will be set when hired.
- Weekends may be required
