Coastal Pet Rescue Successful Adoption Story: Deville

Adopted: May 11, 2008
Rescued: January 30, 2008

Deville came to Coastal Pet Rescue from Animal Control. His fur was badly matted, and much of it had to be removed.

Update: June 21, 2009
I adopted an adult male Maine Coon named Missouri in January of 07 and wanted another for his company as well as mine, so I placed a search on Save-a-Pet.com asking for male Cooners within a 250 mile radius (they don't show up very often). When I saw Deville's photo, I was interested...while his coat was closely clipped in places (he'd been quite matted when picked up by Animal Control, I learned), I could see his beauty. He was in Savannah, and I'm in Charleston, and his foster mom was flexible and easy to work with, so I made plans to go down on Mother's Day with my mother and sister to see Deville and *maybe *bring him home.

Well, I got cold feet the week before I was to go: "What if he and Missouri don't get along? What if he's sickly? What if...?" When I got to Savannah and saw Deville, I was sure I wanted to give adoption a try. I sat in the back seat of the car and "bonded" with him on the way home, my travel companions making jokes about "the new mother".

Everything Michelle (his foster mom) told me about him was true: he is healthy, sweet-natured, and affectionate, still has lots of "kitten" in him, doesn't like to be groomed (but we're working on that), and after the first few days of occasional hissing on Missouri's part, he gets along fine with other animals.

I am SO glad I adopted this sweet animal. Thanks for the good work you do at Coastal Pet Rescue.
