Coastal Pet Rescue Successful Adoption Story: Vincent

Adopted: September 19, 2005
Rescued: August 19, 2005

Vincent is a lover. He needs a home where someone is home all day, or will take him with him where they go. He has separation anxiety and does not like to be left alone. He's a good cuddler and listens well. As he doesn't like a lot of noise, he needs a home without small children. He's a good couch potato, but also enjoys car rides.

Update November 24 2005
Vincent I just wanted to write and let you know what a blessing Vincent has been in our lives. He is so affectionate and lively; one minute he's mixing it up with our other dogs in a wild free-for-all, the next he lets me wrap him up in a blankie and cuddle him like a baby. I truly believe he is happy with us as well. The best thing is that I'M his favorite! He socializes quite well but I'm the one he snuggles up to at quiet time and he follows me everywhere. My disability had me way down in the dumps, but you cannot imagine how this little boy has helped my state of mind. He seems to understand that I need him and so he gives me that extra attention.

One of my favorite songs has always been a song by Don McLean about my favorite artist, Vincent van Gogh (all a coincidence as you know, I didn't name this baby). Given his level of timidity and fear when he first arrived here, I could only surmise that he had been badly mistreated in the past.

"But I could have told you
Vincent
this world was never
meant for one
as beautiful as you"

Sometimes people just get a pet and expect them to think and act like people instead of dogs, and I think that the folks who had him before did not understand that and tried to force him cruelly into submission. I pray that those memories are fading now; he is much more comfortable in his surroundings and I'm sure he feels loved.

Anyway, thanks so much for letting me be the one he came to live with! Have a wonderful holiday season (mine is Christmas) and I sincerely hope that the love and care you all have shown these animals is returned to you tenfold!
