Wert - Male Shih Tzu

Rescued January 27, 2017
Approximate age: 5 years old (at time of rescue)
Activity Level: Low
Adult Size: Small (10 to 25 pounds)
Good with: Dogs

On January 27, CPR rescued nine Shih Tzus from Chatham County Animal Services that had been seized from a breeder. The dogs were very badly matted, covered in urine and feces. Volunteers spent six hours that day and more hours over the next week working to free them from their years of neglect. Photos that are posted are not representative of the beauties they will be when they can be professionally groomed and have their fur regrow.

We are still learning about each dog and will post updated info from foster parents and volunteers as available.

None of the dogs have had any experience around children, let alone much other human touch. All dogs will be looking for homes without any small children.

All Coastal Pet Rescue pets are current on shots, microchipped* and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters are responsible for any shots that may be due after adoption (particularly for kittens and puppies that must have three rounds of shots to be protected).

CPR has implanted a microchip as part of the adoption process and the chip is included in the adoption fee. However, some chip companies require a registration fee varying from $9.99 to $19.99. The registration fees are the responsibility of the adopter and are NOT included in the CPR adoption fee. Adopters may add this cost to their adoption fee to have CPR register the chip on their behalf.

Adoption Fees:
Kittens: $60, Cats (1 year plus): $50, Puppies: $250, Adult Canines (1 to 6 years): $200, Seniors (7 years plus): $100 (unless otherwise specified). Adoption fees are not a tax-deductible donation as allowed by IRS regulations. Adoption fees help to offset the cost of the pet's care incurred by Coastal Pet Rescue, which are generally 2 to 3 times the adoption fee amount.

30 Days Pet Insurance:
As a Petfinder member, all adopters are entitled to a free 30 day insurance policy through PetFirst. Coastal Pet Rescue is not responsible for this policy. Adopters must call PetFirst’s toll-free number 855-710-7387 to activate the coverage. If adopters fail to call, the policy will not be activated.
