Lilac

Lilac - Female Wirehaired Dachshund

Rescued January 24, 2018
Approximate age: 5 years old (at time of rescue)
Activity Level: Low
Adult Size: Small (10 to 25 pounds)
Good with:
Heartworm Positive

Lilac is a laidback soon-to-be senior girl who loves being in the company of her person. If you're looking for a cuddle buddy to curl up next to you on the couch, she's your girl! She is housebroken and will let you know when she needs to go outside.
Lilac isn't too keen on toys, but she won't turn down a Kong filled with yummy peanut butter! She generally gets along with other dogs but seems to prefer the company of humans to other canines.
She is skittish at times and doesn't like to be picked up, but she seems to be quick to trust humans so this shouldn't be an issue for much longer. She is starting to learn her name and will happily come when called.
She may do best as the only dog in the household where she can bond with one or two people. She is curious about cats. Lilac would not be best suited for families with small children.

Heartworm Information:
Lilac is Heartworm positive. Lilac will have received a two month pre-treatment while with CPR. Adopters should discuss heartworm protocols with their veterinarian to determine treatment. Read more about the methods of treatment here.

All Coastal Pet Rescue pets are current on shots, microchipped* and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters are responsible for any shots that may be due after adoption (particularly for kittens and puppies that must have three rounds of shots to be protected).

Microchip:
CPR has implanted a microchip as part of the adoption process and the chip is included in the adoption fee. Some pets come to us already microchipped by other companies. However, some chip companies require a registration fee varying from $9.99 to $19.99. The registration fees are the responsibility of the adopter and are NOT included in the CPR adoption fee. Adopters may add this cost to their adoption fee to have CPR register the chip on their behalf (for AKC Reunite chips only).

Adoption Fees:
Kittens: $60, Cats (1 year plus): $50, Puppies: $250, Adult Canines (1 to 6 years): $200, Seniors (7 years plus): $100 (unless otherwise specified). Adoption fees are not a tax-deductible donation as allowed by IRS regulations. Adoption fees help to offset the cost of the pet's care incurred by Coastal Pet Rescue, which are generally 2 to 3 times the adoption fee amount.

30 Days Pet Insurance:
As a Petfinder member, all adopters are entitled to a free 30 day insurance policy through PetFirst. Coastal Pet Rescue is not responsible for this policy. Adopters must call PetFirst’s toll-free number 855-710-7387 to activate the coverage. If adopters fail to call, the policy will not be activated.
