Volunteer Orientation - Help Change a LifeNovember 17, 2024 Time: 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Location: 7430 Thomas Avenue - off Montgomery Crossroads Want to get involved in changing the lives of homeless pets? Come join us for our next in person volunteer orientation. You’ll get a tour of our shelter, “Camp Pawsawhile,” an overview of how we provide care, and how you can make a difference for our pets. There are so many different ways you can help: Love animals but aren’t ready to commit to having one of your very own? Can’t commit to set hours? Love getting out and meeting people? Good with a camera? A bit OCD? Handy with tools? If you have a skill that you think could help us in some way, come learn more about how you can help save a life. Some Quick FAQ’s: We have different areas where you can help: Cottage (Small Dogs), Kennels (Big Dogs), and Cattery (Felines of all ages, shapes and sizes) Shifts normally take about two hours, but go faster as you learn where everything is and have others to help. We welcome all youth and families to volunteer. Youth under high school age may volunteer with a parent. High schoolers may volunteer on site after attending an orientation with a parent. Come and help when you can. While we do not have a minimum set number of shifts you must commit to, we do request that you sign up for your first shift at your orientation. Camp volunteer duties include providing fresh food and water for pets, scooping litter boxes, picking up after dogs, washing runs, disinfecting litter boxes and food and water dishes, socializing (playing) with cats and walking dogs. All volunteers are required to wear closed-toe shoes and should wear clothes that can get dirty (because they will - many volunteers prefer rain boots for working in the kennels.) More Details: |
