Stray Pets
Due to laws regarding ownership of pets, Coastal Pet Rescue is unable to take stray pets. Pets must first go to animal control where they can be released to rescues after the required holding period.
Stray/Feral Cats
If you have a stray or feral cat in your neighborhood, please visit The Milton Project for assistance.

Beware of Scammers
Please beware of people emailing you, claiming to have your lost pet and demanding you send them money via Western Union or other wire service to retrieve your pet. These are wire scams, many originating from Nigeria. If you suspect someone you know has taken your pet, please consider filing a police report or at the very least, take another person with you if you plan to confront them.
Lost & Found Pets
Have you lost or found a dog or cat? Coastal Pet Rescue has tips to help you as well as place ads to help reunite pets. If you have reclaimed a lost pet, consider permanent identification with microchipping in the event your pet goes missing again.
What to do if you've lost your pet
Information provided by the Chatham County Animal Control staff
- Visit the Animal Control shelter every 1-2 days, to include weekends. Visitation hours are from 1:00 - 4:45 p.m. Please bring a photo of the pet, if you have one. You are the only one who can positively identify your pet. Leave your name, address, a daytime phone number, and a description of your pet.
- Place an advertisement in the Savannah Morning News (652-0229), Penny Saver (238-2040), Tell-n-Sell (927-7731) and the Spirit of the Westside (748-3567). Consider offering a reward to the public. Lost and Found ads are FREE in these papers. Be sure to include the date and the area where your animal was lost or found; however, DO NOT include your pet's name.
- Post signs in nearby convenience stores, grocery stores, and Veterinarian's offices, not on utility poles. If a picture is included on the sign, it is easier for someone to identify your pet.
- Check with your mail carrier, garbage collector, and other individuals who regularly frequent your neighborhood.
- Leave your information with WRHQ 105.3 (click here to submit).
