Coastal Pet Rescue Adoption Days at Petco

Savannah, GA July 14, 2008

Coastal Pet Rescue is branching out to find more homes for its homeless pets.

Last month, the group joined forces with Petco in Bluffton, SC to participate in its adoption days on a monthly basis.

“Over the last five years, our group has had the opportunity to meet with Petco executives at various workshops and expos out of our area,” says Lisa Scarbrough, president and founder of Coastal Pet Rescue. “We really agree with their “Think Adoption First” initiative, and felt the organizations could benefit mutually by participating in the store adoption days.”

The Coastal Pet Rescue adoption days at Petco will be held from 11am until 4pm on Saturdays, July 26, August 16 and September 20.

The adoption days give potential adopters the opportunity to meet adoptable pets first-hand and ask questions of their foster parents. While they do not allow same-day adoptions, Coastal Pet Rescue will accept adoption applications on-site during the adoption days.

“We want families to have time to reflect upon all the needs and requirements of an adopted pet and be sure it will be a lifetime commitment,” says Scarbrough. “We don’t want impulse decisions because of ‘love at first sight.’”

Families adopting from Coastal Pet Rescue receive an adoption pack from Purina Pro Plan Rally to Rescue with information and coupons to aid in the first 48 hours of adoption. Additionally, families receive training DVDs from Animal Planet, free microchipping from 24PetWatch, and the option to purchase a 30 day pet insurance policy from ShelterCare for only $1.

All pets adopted from Coastal Pet Rescue are current on shots and spayed or neutered prior to adoption.

Founded in February 2003, Coastal Pet Rescue is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization based in Savannah, Georgia dedicated to saving the lives of homeless, abused and neglected dogs and cats in the Creative Coast Savannah and Lowcountry South Carolina areas.
