Coastal Pet Rescue Call for Foster Parents

(Savannah, GA) - April 30, 2008

Coastal Pet Rescue doesn’t just save homeless pets, they make them part of the family until they can be placed in a forever home.

Coastal Pet Rescue runs on the dedication of their volunteer foster parents, who play an important role in the pet’s transition between an unfortunate situation and a happy, healthy existence.

“Essentially, the foster parent is there to re-establish trust between human and animal,” says Coastal Pet Rescue president and founder Lisa Scarbrough. “Once a rescued pet knows what it is to be loved again, they can go smoothly into their new life.”

Here are some of the benefits of being a foster parent for Coastal Pet Rescue:

•Coastal Pet Rescue will never make the foster parent foot the bill for any medical expenses. All vaccinations, deworming, microcipping, spaying or neutering, heartworm treatments, routine medications or emergency visits will be covered by Coastal Pet Rescue, leaving the foster parent free to focus on their foster puppy or kitten.

• Foster parents are given the opportunity to meet with prospective adopting parents to provide information regarding the pet, while also helping Coastal Pet Rescue to evaluate the adopters. In this way, the foster parent is fully involved in seeing that their foster pet moves on to a happy life.

•Coastal Pet Rescue also gives foster parents a chance to participate in events like foster parent recruiting drives, where their advice and expertise can help others to take on the role themselves.

•While discipline is good, and necessary, to aid the foster pet in adjusting to its new lifestyle, foster pets can and should be spoiled just like any other pet. Fostering a pet is a great chance to spread the love!

•Foster pets stay with their parents for 4 to 8 weeks. While many foster parents find saying goodbye to foster pets a sad occasion, they always enjoy knowing there are other rescues in need of their generosity and care.

“Our foster parents take great pride in the success of their adoptions,” says Scarbrough. “There’s nothing more rewarding than knowing you made a positive change in lives, not just the pet but the family as well.”
