Coastal Pet Rescue Presents 2005 Home 4 the Holidays Adoption and Fundraising Drive

(Savannah, GA) - November 09, 2005

Coastal Pet Rescue needs the community’s help to grant the wish lists of its pets this holiday season.

For the last three years, Coastal Pet Rescue has participated in the Home 4 the Holidays adoption drive through the Helen Woodward Animal Center. The program works to reward families who adopt a pet for the holidays as well as increase the visibility of pets needing adoption.

“We have so many great dogs and cats who will get overlooked around the holidays as families look for that perfect puppy or kitten on their child’s Christmas list elsewhere,” says Lisa Scarbrough, president and founder of Coastal Pet Rescue. “Pets in shelters and rescues are just as deserving of a new home, despite being slightly older or not a purebred.”

Pets will be available for adoption at the Dragonfly Arts Festival on Tybee November 12 and 13th and through the agency’s website, http://www.coastalpetrescue.org.

Adoptions in November and December will be rewarded with a free weekend of petsitting from At Home Pet Sitters, adoption treats from Winston’s Barkery, $10 off coupon for pet first aid and CPR training from the Savannah Chapter of the American Red Cross, and coupons and valuable information from Purina’s Rally to Rescue program.

For those who aren’t looking to adopt, financial contributions are also requested to assist with much needed veterinary care.

“We have three dogs who need heartworm treatments and one senior Chihuahua who needs all his teeth pulled,” says Scarbrough. “All they want for Christmas is to be healthy so they can be adopted.”

To aid their fundraising efforts, Coastal Pet Rescue is once again holding its Pennies for Pets drive. Donations are being collected at the organization’s events throughout November and December. Arrangements may also be made for drop-off or pick-up by calling 912-351-4151 or emailing .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Starting November 12, you can bid in the rescue’s online silent auction featuring gift baskets created by local celebrities. Local columnist and author Polly Powers Stramm, Kix 96’s Big Mac, Z102’s Senea and WJCL’s Peggy Lee contributed items from CDs and DVDs to hotel accommodations and sightseeing passes in New York City.

On November 19, Coastal Pet Rescue will hold its last microchip clinic of the year. For $10, your pet will be microchipped with 24PetWatch technology. The clinic will take place at Wal-Mart on Ogeechee Rd (Hwy 17) from 10 am to 1 pm.
