Coastal Pet Rescue Receives Corporate Donation

(Savannah, GA) - April 15, 2005

Chatham Parkway Lexus and Chatham Parkway Toyota wanted to make a difference for a small home-based pet rescue organization.

Throughout the month of March, the two dealerships donated $25 for every vehicle sold to Coastal Pet Rescue. A check for $4,775.00 was received by the rescue this week.

“I have grown up with pets all my life, and every time I see an animal running the road it bothers me,” says Jim Mollica, General Manager of Chatham Parkway Lexus and Chatham Parkway Toyota. “[Coastal Pet Rescue] help[s] these pets, and I feel we owe it to the community to give back.”

Jim Mollica contacted Coastal Pet Rescue after reading the article “Barking up the right tree” in the Savannah Morning News February 8, 2005 which profiled the organization’s founder, Lisa Scarbrough.

In addition to the donation, the dealerships held an on-site adoption day March 26th for Coastal Pet Rescue, resulting in a few donations and two adoptions.

“We’re overwhelmed by the donation,” says Lisa Scarbrough, president and founder of Coastal Pet Rescue. “We struggle for donations, and this will enable us to take on more pets and expand our humane education programs.”

While most of the funds will be used for veterinary care and pet supplies, a portion will be used to purchase and donate CPR mannequins to the Savannah Chapter of the American Red Cross to start pet first aid and CPR classes.

Founded in February 2003, Coastal Pet Rescue is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to saving the lives of homeless, abused and neglected animals in the coastal areas of Georgia, South Carolina and Florida.
