Coastal Pet Rescue seeks donations for Abandoned Weimaraner hit by Semi Truck

(Savannah, GA) - January 18, 2005

Two Weimaraners turned over to Coastal Pet Rescue after being abandoned by their owners in an apartment in Pooler are in need of financial assistance.

Jackie and Colby were turned in to Coastal Pet Rescue January 15, 2005. They were left behind by a couple who decided to move out of state after Jackie was hit by a semi truck on December 27.

Rather than provide the care she needed, they opted to just have her leg bandaged and give her some aspirin and anti-inflammatory. The dogs were reported to Pooler Police by concerned neighbors who noticed the dogs had been left in the apartment.

Due to her injuries, Jackie will need a lot of vet care in the coming weeks. The initial pronosis has been made by the vet, and she will have to be closely monitored in the next 48 hours. She’s trying to stand and walk on her own, which is a good sign. However, the injuries are going to require surgery by a specialist, which may be around $2800 to $3500.

Jackie and Colby’s information was posted on Coastal Pet Rescue’s website this past Saturday, and already, one family has applied to adopt Colby, the male.

Jackie, the female, will stay in Coastal Pet Rescue’s foster care for the duration of her treatments.

Coastal Pet Rescue is seeking donations to help with her care.
