(Savannah, GA) - February 02, 2011

We are extending the 1/2 off rates through the end of February. Please help us get some kitties adopted!

Open your heart to adopt a feline this Valentine’s Day, and Coastal Pet Rescue will cut the adoption fee in half.

“Savannah just seems to be a haven for stray cats,” says Lisa Scarbrough, president and founder of Coastal Pet Rescue. “Not a day goes by that we don’t get a phone call or email from someone either wanting to give up their cats or report stray cats on their property.”

It takes the rescue group almost three to four times as long to get a feline adopted as it does a canine. Right now, the average time a feline stays in the foster care program is 10 months to a year, often requiring the group to resort to boarding when foster homes cannot hold the pets that long.

“Until we get these last six cats adopted, we can’t accept anymore,” says Scarbrough. “Despite what it costs us to get the shots done, spay, microchip, and feed these cats for their foster period, we’re hopeful the reduced rates will get these kitties into loving homes and allow us to take more in again.”

Cats available for adoption are listed on Coastal Pet Rescue’s website. The normal fee is $80 and includes FeLV/FIV test, shots, microchip, and spay/neuter. Adoption fees will be reduced to $40 through February 15.

Coastal Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization dedicated to saving the lives of homeless, abused and neglected dogs and cats in Savannah and surrounding areas. Founded in February 2003, Coastal Pet Rescue changes the lives of homeless pets in Chatham, Bryan and Effingham Counties through its foster home program and small capacity shelter, Camp Pawsawhile Retreat.
