Dog Saved by Community Wants to Say Thanks

(Savannah, GA) - June 22, 2005

Six months after being hit by a semi truck, Jackie the Weimaraner has a new life, thanks to a community who cared.

“We knew the surgery was going to be extensive,” says Lisa Scarbrough, president and founder of Coastal Pet Rescue. “We put a plea out to the public to save her, and were overwhelmed by the support.”

After WSAV and the Savannah Morning News ran the story of Jackie and Colby, two Weimaraners who had been abandoned in a Pooler apartment after Jackie had been hit by a semi truck, donations for medical expenses poured in. Over $5300 was raised in support of Jackie, more than enough to pay for her surgery and recovery. Now, Jackie and her new family would like the opportunity to thank those who saved her.

“Jackie is a different dog,” says Lisa Reinhardt, Jackie’s adoptive mom. “She is gaining more confidence everyday and has a regular routine. We adore her and can not thank everyone enough who gave so generously to help her recover.”

Coastal Pet Rescue and the Reinhardt family invite the public to come out for a personal thank you from Jackie at the Savannah Morning News’s Ultimate Yard Sale on Saturday, June 25 from 8 to 9 am.
