Jacob G. Smith Third Graders Donate to Coastal Pet Rescue

(Savannah, GA) - February 25, 2005

Jacob G. Smith Elementary’s third grade classes recently held a dress down day fundraiser to benefit Coastal Pet Rescue.

“Once again, we are touched by the generosity of these young students,” says Lisa Scarbrough, Coastal Pet Rescue president and founder.

Scarbrough, Coastal Pet Rescue vice president Jason Schwartz, and Scarbrough’s faithful companion, Bluey - a 4-year-old Husky/Retriever mix who was also a shelter dog - will visit the third graders on March 2nd at noon for the classes to present their donation.

This is the second year in a row that Jacob G. Smith’s third graders have donated funds to Coastal Pet Rescue. Last year, they held a “Pops for Pups” popsicle sale, netting $119 for the rescue. This year’s dress down day raised around $400.

Founded in February 2003, Coastal Pet Rescue is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to saving the lives of homeless, abused and neglected animals in the coastal areas of Georgia, South Carolina and Florida.
