Local rescuer receives certification from Humane Society of the United States

(Savannah, GA) - November 20, 2006

Every dog should learn a new trick, and that goes for their rescuers, too.

This past January, Coastal Pet Rescue president and founder Lisa Scarbrough enrolled in the Humane Society of the United States’ Executive Leadership Certificate program. The program requires successful completion of four courses dealing with building boards, strategic planning, measuring effectiveness, and implementing statistics, surveys, and scorecards.

“It was a bit of a juggle between work, my main school studies and running the rescue,” says Scarbrough, “but I believe these courses have given me valuable resources to strengthen Coastal Pet Rescue.”

Scarbrough completed the courses in August and received her certification this week. Additionally, she is in her second year of study for a Bachelor of Science degree in Humane Leadership through Duquesne University.

Coastal Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization dedicated to saving the lives of homeless, abused and neglected dogs and cats in Savannah and surrounding areas. Founded in February 2003, Coastal Pet Rescue changes the lives of homeless pets in Chatham, Bryan and Effingham Counties through its foster home program and small capacity shelter, Camp Pawsawhile Retreat.
