Persistent Volunteer Comes “To The Rescue” of Coastal Pet Rescue

(Savannah, GA) - March 24, 2008

One Coastal Pet Rescue volunteer delivered quite an Easter egg early Friday afternoon.

Coastal Pet Rescue’s secretary Heather Erwin is notorious for her constant contest entries, even having her own section for them on the organization’s blog. She enters enough times to make frequent wins, but the news she got on March 12 made her shake.

“I was so excited when I got the notification, that I started shaking,” says Erwin.

The contest, “To the Rescue,” was an online sweepstakes by S.C. Johnson and Son, Inc. to promote their Oust air sanitizer products. Each month from January to June this year, S.C. Johnson chose a Petfinder.com member shelter at random to receive a $5,000 donation and a case of Oust.

“The rules stated that it could be entered daily, so I entered the sweepstakes every day when I logged in to update the Petfinder site with our newest pets,” says Erwin. She entered 25 times in February.

“It was quite an Easter blessing we so desperately needed,” said Coastal Pet Rescue president/founder Lisa Scarbrough.

For the last two months, the group has struggled with donations. Now, they can pay off the over $2,000 in vet bills they owe and finish care for the other pets currently in the program.

“Every once in awhile, you get to a point and wonder if you’re going to make it, if you’re on the right path,” says Scarbrough. “Heather and her husband Todd have been such angels to us, and this added blessing is a great encouragement for all our work.”
