UPDATED: Coastal Pet Rescue Presents Third Annual Pet Expo

(Savannah, GA) - October 10, 2005

On Saturday, October 15th, bring your family and your favorite four-legged companion to the 2005 Coastal Pet Rescue Pet Expo from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m at Shady Pines Kennels in Savannah.

The afternoon will consist of activities for pets and their guardians. Horizon Pest Control will present “Savannah,” the city’s first termite sniffing dog, CrimeStoppers will have information available about reporting animal cruelty, and the Savannah Red Cross will present information about pet first aid and CPR. Winston’s Barkery will be on hand to sell their fabulous home-made dog treats and other goodies for your favorite pet. At Home Pet Sitters will answer your questions and even schedule pet sitting for your next vacation. You can also visit the new doggy day care facilities at Shady Pines Kennels or meet with their staff to tour their boarding area.

Animals for adoption will be available from Coastal Pet Rescue and Aussie Rescue, and The Milton Project will have information available about the new trap-neuter-return program for feral cats.

Part of the expo will be a low-cost microchipping clinic. For $10 a pet, you will receive a microchip and registration. This is available on a first-come, first-serve basis as we will only do 100 microchippings. Chips will be 24 Pet Watch chips, which are compatible with all AVID and Home Again readers currently used in shelters and animal control agencies in the region. The actual microchipping will be done by All About Pets Mobile Vet Clinic. All pets must have proof of current rabies shot and be leashed.

Enter your pet in our silly pet tricks or best in costume contest, starting at 3:00 p.m. There is no charge for admission or entries in the pet contests. WBMQ’s Ben Bennett and Z102’s Senea will emcee the afternoon activities, in between breaks from entertainment provided by Guilty Party.
