Coastal Pet Rescue Honors Volunteers

In the heart of Savannah, volunteers with big hearts for homeless pets are getting thanks.
Coastal Pet Rescue honored its foster parent and special support volunteers for their work in 2014 Tuesday night with a dinner at The Lady and Sons. Columnist and author Polly Powers Stramm presented the keynote address.
Among the group, 37 volunteers received the Points of Light Foundation’s President’s Volunteer Service Award for accumulating 100 or more volunteer hours in 2014. The recipients included:
Gold Level (500+ hours):
Cheryl Garland, Lydia Wright, Melissa Cope, and Melissa Kendrick.
Silver Level (250-499 hours):
April Summerville, Bonnie Bingaman, Carla Wellmaker, Courtney Harris, Crystal Abernathy Heather Addona, Jenna Lucree, Jennifer Taylor, Julia Wiggins, Kendra Boyle, Kim Place, Michelle Still, Nicole Hartman and Tim Taylor.
Bronze Level (100-249 hours):
Alex Patron, Alia Raheem, April Culver, Carly Hallman, Carolyn Jennelle, Jessica Grenoble, Karen Pranschke, Katie Schweitzer, Kim George, Kristin Smith, Meredith McPherson, Pam Hunt, Rachel Levan, Randy Holland, Sohee Lee Walsh, Tomeka Webb, Travis Palm, and Valerie Griffin.
Coastal Pet Rescue also presented youth awards to recognize outstanding youths who contributed to the organization last year, including: Frances Brock, Kylieann Garland, Jarrett Geib, and Brooklyn Howells. Group thanks were also given to the Savannah Jaycees, SCAD Serves, Thrivent Financial, Wilmington Island Presbyterian Preschool, and Windsor Forest Elementary School for their donations and support. Special recogition was also given to Beth Murray of Bryan County Animal Control for her partnership, yielding the rescue of 65 pets in 2014.
